Case Study: Helping Residents Love Their Homes Again An unloved apartment block in Wellbeck Street, central London had fallen into a state of disrepair. A number of lead lights were missing from the building’s exterior, presenting an unappealing sight to residents and passers-by. Agate Glass was hired by A.N. Build Ltd to replace these lead lights. Bespoke lead lights were needed to fit the gaps and match the existing intricate design (see picture below). Most glaziers would have turned this project down because it would have been beyond their skill-set. However, at Agate Glass we jumped at the opportunity to demonstrate our expertise with lead lights. We carefully deglazed the work area and inserted temporary glazing so that residents did not feel that they were living in a half-finished building site! We then measured and cut special, imported glass before fitting it. Residents found our work so attractive that they demanded the old and faded lead lights be repaired. Consequently, we were asked to use our expertise in restoring sparkle to existing lead lights to create a fully restored exterior. As a result, a once gloomy and rather sorry looking building is now much loved by its residents. |
